We do things a little differently here. Holmen Lofoten is a remote collection of traditional, fisherman’s cabins on the shores of the Lofoten Islands. Recent renovations have transformed our cabins into cosy places to stay while preserving all of their original magic. We’ve also built some new rooms fusing traditional and modern methods and materials, to offer all the comforts you need in classic Scandinavian style. It’s a different kind of luxury, one that works in rhythm with nature and the landscape.
The latest addition to Holmen Lofoten, our suites, provide all the splendour and luxuriousness of modern Nordic design and comfort. Each apartment includes two double rooms, bathroom, sauna, kitchenette and a living room space with a wood fired stove. With sweeping panoramic views from the wide windows; the ideal location to watch a truly tremendous storm while keeping warm and cosy. *The Suites will not be completed till Autumn 2020*
TWIN & DOUBLE ROOMS
Our double and twin rooms carry a minimalist Scandinavian style whilst overlooking the surrounding mountains and ocean. These rooms contain a private bathroom with shower, luggage storage, tea and coffee facilities and heating. Perfect for couples or travelling companions.
During arduous winters, mirroring the journey of the Arctic cod, masses of hardy fishermen would migrate to the Lofoten islands. Fishermen’s cabins, known as rorbuer in Norwegian (rorbu in the singular), were the simple structures which housed the boat crews who worked, ate, rested, and lived together during the fishing season. Holmen Lofoten has undergone a meticulous restoration process, with a focus on maintaining the original structures and historical design. All cabins have a minimum 3 night stay.
Ingebua: cabin for up to 5
The timber frame from our oldest rorbu dates back to 1827. It contains a wood fired stove, kitchenette, bathroom, and living room space. The beds in the main room carry a traditional set-up with wooden bunk style beds fixed to the wall; the opportunity for a true Lofoten experience.
Gustavbua and Roaldbua: cabins for up to 10 or 11
As well as the wood fired stove, kitchenette, bathroom, living room space and bunks, our larger cabins include a loft space with additional beds as well as a second bathroom. Do inquire about group rates for our larger cabins, as we are able to offer subsidies.
